  • Surgical Orthodontics

Surgical orthodontics, or orthognathic surgery, serves to correct jaw irregularities. Orthodontic treatment is always executed in conjunction with orthognathic surgery. This approach is necessary for fully developed adult patients with improper bites and/or aesthetic concerns. Pre-surgical orthodontic treatment can begin 1-2 years prior to surgical treatment. Following surgery, orthodontic treatment lasts 6-12 months. After braces are removed, the patient will wear a retainer.
